Infamous Donut

When you first start learning about blender most people will stumbe upon the Donut turtorial. So did I. The donut took me about 20 hours to complete and the video took 10 hours to render on a laptop with a i7-10750H – 2.6 GHz, 16 GB DRR4, GTX 2070 super.

It at started with a torus, which was sculpted to have a modern donut shape with the the slight indent in the center which is caused as when the donut is fried the middle does not get under the oil. This is also why the middle is lighter. The color was simply added with the paint tool implemented in blender.

The glaze was made with a 1 3rd of a torus wrapped onto the top of the donut. The more natural spill is made by sculping arches and inflating the ends to make droplets. The sprinkles are bend cylinders using an array and shrinkwrap modifiers.

Witcher Inspired Sword

To make such an object there is a few good tricks to make it faster and make sure the shape i consistent. Using a refrence picture from the internet or drawn by oneself is a great option as making something 2D to 3D is easier than it sounds. As certain objects can be mirrored working on one half and simply using the mirror tool will speed the process up! These techniques was used to create this sword.

Texturing can be tricky and for this sword I used outside sources to make it look more realistic. Images for scratch marks have been wrapped onto the blade. All the metallic part was made with Blenders Texture tool, which you can very easily make metallic materials, witchout much knowledge of the tool.

The glow on the runes, which also are images wrapped to the blade, have been added with the use of hue saturation and Bloom modifier.
