Zero Space

About

This is a roguelike. It does not hold your hand and it can feel unfair at times. Your goal is to get to the spaceship’s reactor before meltdown. You have a limited amount of time to get there and to do so, you have to traverse different sections of the ship. These sections is littered with enemies you have to take out to proceed.

You will have access to different human abilities as well as your normal attack. That is not all! You are not entirely alone in this endevaour. The Ghost of Joseph Stone is helping you. You therefore, have access to supernatural attacks and abilities as long as Joseph gets his turn. While you will only start out with a few attacks and abilities, you can pick up new abilities, Artifacts and items along the way. Grow much more powerful! Just be careful. Some items can be… tricky.

The game is considered finished. This project is purely meant to showcase every subject we have learnt. We are proud of showing this game to the world as it only took us 4 weeks (20 work days) of programming.

My contributions

Front-End Programming

Front-End programming is my jam and I got to work on the UI for the game. Quite simple work as the sprite just need a clickable collision that react with the chosen method. The most complicated part was to animate the button on click.

Sound Programming

My second contribution to this project was to add sounds to all abilities, buttons, attacks aswell as add music to that would fit the sci-fi/supernatural element. A quite small small contribution, but working with monogame it did require some tinkering as I needed to find, name and reference it under the right methods. Then sound control was needed on each sound, so they could be regulated.

Writer

The story behind Zero  Space is much more complex that it seems at first glance. The story actually start all the back from our first game. To make sure everything was the way we wanted it, I chose to go through an extensive writing process to knock out every detail from before the first game (Peculiar Case) up the Zero Space. Very little made it into the game, but laid the groundwork for the story that is presented, which I had a major hand in as well.
