A cabin in the woods
Let me show you what I can do
Based on an upcoming book
The script written for the short film was inspired by future work of mine. I love to write and inspiration can come out of nowhere. Before I knew it a whole universe was built. This universe of mine is filled to the brim with stories and events and some of that is perfect in book form, but this little story wasn’t, so I chose to explore other storytelling options.
The logo you see on the left, has some clear sources of inspiration and some secrets. Nothing in this logo is by accident or because I liked the look. No, everything from the colours, text and sigils have a meaning a some story behind it. Want be to reveal more? Well then, you might have to wait or… Perhaps I could be persuaded to share a little more.
Modelled from scratch
Doing everything with nothing but creativity and imagination sounds impossible. Yet it is anything but that. It is a challenge that simply will built confidence and new skills. One of those skills are 3D modelling. When you are like me and have this perfect image in your head, you simply can’t stumble upon assets you want and I did not want to settle. So stubborn and determined I began learning how to 3D model and the perfectionist in me, did not let me stop until I had achieved a satisfying quality.
My first proper 3D model was an Ithaca 37 shotgun. Next I wanted to go big and made an entire log cabin using architectural blueprints, 1:1 measuring of objects and everything there was to know about achieving high quality without frying my PC. Then came another prop I wanted to make and new skills had to be learned and so on. It showed me that I could potentially have a future as a prop artist or if I continue developing these skills, become an environmental artist.

Sound made with love
Making sound effects is in large part pure imagination. Sneaking around a forest to capture that perfect gust of wind, crawling on all fours following a frog for a change to capture it ribbit, stepping on hundreds of different wooden boards to find the perfect creak, or destroying food items to capture unique sounds is just plain fun. Then combining it with editing and you are put into a world with limitless creativity.
