About
As we had learned to analyse companies, customers, their purposes and goals for set forth, we needed to use that to better existing company websites. With our newfound knowledge of colour theory, skills in graphic design and basic web development I set out to redesign a website that haven’t changed much since its beginning. Churchofsatan.com is simple yet chaotic. It is missing uniformity and a clear focus point.
Purpose
This website is a distributor of information. It is no secret that this is a religious site, and these sites primarily exists to inform users, have a place to discuss and since this religion is fairly new and unique, it also shares news and works of fellow satanists. This have been hard as other groups falsely claiming to be satanists have embraced technology and design, which means their websites looks much more official, so people who do not know the site might end up missing it.
Work
I started by testing the existing site with the use of the gangster test. This would let me know exactly how confusing the site actually is, and it scored low. Subpages directs you to other subpages. Unclear subpages make you confused of where you are and what direction you are supposed to move, so I started by clearing up their menu. Simply by making the language used clearer it created less confusion. Then I researched the religion deeper. I learned what made it unique to others and I used it in my design to further illustrate the time it began and how their dogma is supposed to make you feel. Their News bar was set to the site and became distracting, and it create a chaotic design. By moving the new section to a horizontal banner, the site had a much clearer direction and kept alignment no matter how much text a certain page has.
