About

The Oscar Yankee product, Wings, is a flight school management software that makes day to day operations a much more streamlined process. An easier and faster way to work whilst everything is still documented and maintained meticulously. As the company considering switching to a communication and marketing management system it was the perfect opportunity to redesign the websites used to advertise Wings.

Know the intend of the redesign

The website they have now is very good, but the company wanted it to be better. The intent is to be more upfront with the user. Let them know more about the product and generally update it to feel more modern. At the same time, it should also be clear to the user that they should contact the company directly for more information about the service Oscar Yankee can provide. As the site needs to be integrated with a new system, the redesign also meant it had to be easily maintained by a possible future webmaster.

The Landing Page

The new design

The new design for the landing page should be more eye-catching and draw potential users in, yet not relay too much information at the top. The longer down the page you go more and more information should be relay, but still in small bites. Throughout the site there should be opportunities for the viewer to read more. CTA button leading to subpages that goes into detail about every feature.

Features Page

Why change the design

As the company grew many of their newer features for their product is missing and images are outdated. They wanted a modern site that incorporated graphics from the product, sections for more detailed information and opportunities to add small videos or images thought, while still following their brand.

Specific Feature Page

Web Developing

A part of the new management system is a proprietary CMS software. This particular CMS is newer than WordPress and does not have as large of a community behind it. That meant that the elements, called modules, need to be built from scratch to properly achieve my created design. These modules had to work with their HUBL and fields templating languages for maximum control as they needed to be abled to add, remove and edit elements such as text, images, colours and more. The site needed to be developed in a way, so no code had to be changed by a webmaster or content creator.
